For the first time in many months, my husband and I were able to catch a sunset from the beach last night. I know, those of you who don’t live near the water are thinking, “Oh how sad it’s been months since you saw a sunset from the beach”. However, when you live near a beach it is kind of sad when you don’t enjoy its beauty and the gift of the feeling it brings.
So we stopped last night on the way home from work to watch the sky change colors. It was cool, like jacket cool, and the wind was blowing pretty hard, but it was still nice to be there. There is just something about the ocean, the sand, and the smell of the salt water. These simple things can bring relaxation almost instantly, and last night they worked their magic as always 🙂 . Then toss in the gift of watching the sunset over the water, ya, that pretty much makes the day complete.
Imagine if all we had to do was to watch the sunset over the water or the mountains, over the plains of the Midwest. Imagine if watching the sunset was the most important priority we had, how would our lives be different? Hmmm, interesting question…
When we got home last night and making dinner my husband glanced at the clock. He commented that we had time for a movie and suggested that we watch one of my favorites, “I Can Only Imagine”. If you’ve not seen it, well I highly recommend it, the movie is about the band Mercy Me, specifically about the lead singer Bart Millard. It’s a movie with an incredible message of forgiveness and growing deep into a relationship with Father. It’s a movie that touches you in many ways.
Of course, the name of the movie is also the name of the number-one song that sent Mercy Me to the top of the charts and they’ve been there ever since. The song has a message that is so clear and so real, it’s easy to understand why it is still to this day so popular. Whenever you need a feel-good tune, this is it.
This morning, as I thought about this little blog, the sunset last night, and the movie, ya it seemed like a good time to share this song again. Even if you’ve heard it, take just a few minutes as you start your day and give a listen. I’m pretty sure it will start your day in a great place.
Just imagine friends, what it will be like when we see Father face to face 🙂
