Yesterday as I was working it hit me that Thanksgiving is just a week away. Where in the world is the time going these days I ask in unbelief! In thinking about what is truly one of my favorite holidays, I found myself walking through memories of past Thanksgivings.
I think I’ve mentioned here before that we used to have very large gatherings, we called them the annual “Rally of the Clan”, (my husband is Scottish of course). We cooked for days, rearranged our dining and living rooms to accommodate tables for everyone, made napkin ring decorations, and found new recipes each year, you get the idea. It was work, but I wouldn’t have traded it for anything, I truly loved hosting and having everyone gather together on Thanksgiving. We would talk for hours, all of us catching up on the latest in our lives. I was truly grateful for the time we all would come together to catch up and to give thanks.
This morning as I sat down to write this little blog, I can’t help but think about all the things in this life for which I am truly grateful. First and foremost, I’m grateful for a loving relationship with Father. He has blessed me in ways I truly don’t understand sometimes. I’m grateful for a loving husband who puts up with all the silly things I do. I’m grateful for two beautiful children and blessed with two wonderful grandchildren. I’m grateful for parents who, even though we didn’t have much, gave us everything they could, and instilled in us the value of hard work, integrity, and love. I’m grateful for my siblings, nieces, nephews, and all our extended family. I’m grateful for friends who over the years have grown into family.
I’m grateful for all who make this nation run, our veterans, our military, first responders, small business owners, and everyone who gives of themselves.
Friends, we’re just a little less than a week away from Thanksgiving. I just encourage you to be grateful, give thanks, and pray for Father to continue to bless this land we call home.
Have a great day friends, I’m grateful to each of you and your support of this little blog each day 🙂 .
