What’s Your Favorite

I mentioned yesterday the plans we have for Thanksgiving. We’re making lunch for kids at Youth Haven, a shelter for abused kids and teens. Part of the process is making sure we bring food that the kids like. We make lists of what worked well last year and tweak each year. Of course, we have the traditional mashed potatoes and gravy and you have to have tons of the mac ‘n cheese. Some years though the stuffing will be eaten, other years not so much, green beans or corn, pumpkin pie or cherry, oy the decisions.

It got me thinking this morning as I sat down to write this little blog. I’m curious about YOUR favorites. What is your all-time favorite dish at Thanksgiving and along with that, what is your all-time favorite bible verse? I thought this might be a fun way to maybe try something new recipe-wise, and I would love to hear the scripture others find so meaningful.

So, I’ll start…My favorite Thanksgiving dish, hmmm…well, I have to say it’s the deep-fried turkey. We started this tradition several years ago. Many of our friends raved about it so one year we purchased the indoor version of the deep fryer, (Butterball makes it). Ya, it’s ahhhmazing and cooks in tons less time!

Now, my favorite bible verse, that’s a tough one because there are sooo many great ones. But I would have to say my favorite is Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not,  for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This message says it all, Father is with us all the time, and we have nothing to fear if we only trust in Him. He tells us clearly in this verse, that He is always here to help us and to strengthen us.

So friends, as you start your day, I’d love it if you’d take a quick moment to just share your favorites. What do you love most about that Thanksgiving meal and what do you love most in God’s word.

Have a great day all, happy Thanksgiving prepping 🙂 .

Psalm 107:1
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

  2. Home made whole cranberry sauce. I love the brightness of the color as it glistens in a glass bowl and the sweet / tart accent it adds to the meal. My verse – like you Kim hard to choose, but one that gives me pause in a hectic day: Be still and know that I am God. Happy Thanksgiving.
