Yesterday afternoon my husband and I hauled over the last of the Christmas items in storage. With each tub that was opened, another area of our home was looking like Christmas. I took the lid off a tub and found the little tree that we bought last year when we traveled back north. We had a little tree set up in our hotel room, all decked out with little lights, and we used bath towels as a tree skirt, oh the memories 🙂 . Anyway, I found this little tree yesterday and contemplated where to put it. We opted to put it out on our lanai.
I spent some time “fluffing” the branches on this little tree, and on a second tree that sits in our dining room. You know the drill with an artificial tree, you have to fluff and arrange the branches so they look like a real tree. I worked on both of these trees for a time, straightening the limbs, and spreading them out to fill the tree. I wanted them just so. You know what I mean, they had to be just right. Does that ever really happen though, I mean every time I look at those trees from a different angle, I’m right back there tweaking. I think I could spend all day doing that. Truth is, there will always be tweaking, they are never going to be perfect.
This sort of reminds me of us, we spend so much of our lives trying to make things just so. We want things perfect, we want things to go just right for ourselves and our families. Well…there will always need to be tweaking, and a little newsflash, we will never be perfect. This thing called life gets messy, and it’s probably never going to be “just so”. However, if we take the time to build that relationship with Father, He can help us “arrange the branches”, and set our priorities, so that we are focusing on the most important things.
Spend a little time with Him today friends. Let God fill you with His love. There is one place where things can be “just so”, that’s in our true loving relationship with Him.
Have a great day my friends, time to get the week started 🙂 .
