This evening we’re looking forward to hosting some special friends for dinner. I’ve written about them before, a group of amazing people who came to know each other through disaster. You see we all came together as close friends last year during Hurricane Ian serving with the Marco Patriots. Through the challenges of that storm, the clean-up after, and the rebuilding, we have formed a bond. People who didn’t know each other, one year later are close friends who would do just about anything for each other.
It’s interesting how Father brings his children together. I don’t think it’s uncommon for friendships to be born out of difficult times. I think Father knows what we need and when we need it. I think He brings people into our lives to show us that we are to be here for each other, to love and care for each other. This group of friends, well we do just that, we care for each other, but I’ve seen this group do so much more, they care for the community. Whenever there is a need, a question, or a request in our Marco Patriot community, this group is there to help. The giving heart that I see every day from these special people, well, simply put, is Father at work.
So tonight I look forward to hosting a simple celebration for a special group of people. I look forward to catching up and hearing about their summers, hugging necks, and sharing laughs. I look forward to physically reconnecting with special friends.
During this season of Advent, as we are preparing to celebrate the gift of God’s Son, I encourage you to celebrate the gifts in your life. The gifts of family and of friends, they are simple gifts, so why not come together in a simple celebration. We are truly blessed my friends, Father gives so much to us, let’s take time to celebrate those blessings.
Have a great day my friends 🙂 .
p.s. Thanks to my friend Erin for the amazing cover picture today!
