Back at this little blog this morning. The holiday break was nice and as I type this morning I find myself reflecting back on these past days. Our youngest was in town for Christmas and we enjoyed shopping, gaming, eating, and the traditional building of the Lego set. We joked about how some of the funny things that were said over the Holiday just might end up here in this little blog. Ya just never know sometimes.
I noticed several things during Christmas and the New Year weeks.
- Little children are still filled with the wonder of the Holy Family and the baby Jesus.
- Christmas Eve instills hope in every person, even those who have fallen away from a relationship with Father.
- There are times when adults can still learn from their children. ”Out of the mouths of Babes”, is a real saying.
- Lending a hand is still OK.
- Miracles, they do happen, Father sees to that.
On New Year’s Eve day a friend of mine posted something on social media. Two simple questions:
I am taking _____with me into 2024.
I am leaving _____behind.
What are your answers?
It was interesting to read the comments on that post, they were all similar. Basically, everyone said they were taking the positive with them, the love of family and friends, and kindness. They were leaving behind the negative, the self-doubt, low self-esteem, and extra weight, (both physical and mental). I think there is something to this post and the answers.
Each new year, actually, each new day provides an opportunity for change. We can choose to leave behind the things that move us further from Father, and…we can choose to add those things to our lives, or keep those things that bring us closer to Him. There will be negative that occurs, bad things that happen, and pain that we will endure. However, can we take those times to grow closer to Father, to understand that we are never alone and that with His unending love, we can grow stronger through whatever comes our way?
Yes friends, it’s a new year. It’s a new day, let us take the opportunity to remove those things from our lives that keep us from the most important relationship we can have, the relationship with God. Everything else will fall into place when He is first.
Happy New Year friends, may it be filled with the love of Father, family and friends 🙂 .
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
