Little Community

I’ve mentioned before that we live in a small community here in SW Florida. Much smaller than many, and for that we are fortunate. We are fortunate because we’ve gotten to know most of our neighbors.

It’s a pretty active community as you might expect, there are the weekly golfers of course, and the pickleballers and tennis players. There is also a Mah Jahn group that plays each week, (they keep saying they want to teach me), and we do have our monthly happy hours.

In addition to all of that, we stay connected just in day-to-day comings and goings. My husband and I use our grill almost every evening, so we tend to catch up with the walkers of the fur babies, and those just taking their evening strolls. Although we haven’t done so recently due to the low temps, residents get to know each other while sitting around our little community pool.

This past weekend we had a few residents with health scares, including an ambulance dispatched. What I realized this morning as I thought about these events is that we all care about each other. When things happen, we pray, check in on each other, spread the word so others know what’s happening, and offer to help in any way we can. This little community comes together.

I know we aren’t unlike many communities. I guess my point to this little blog this morning is, that Father asks us to help each other, to be there for each other, to show His love through those actions. One of the best ways to do this in our daily lives is to get to know our neighbors, whether we are in a little community like ours, an apartment building, a large neighborhood, or even if you are on many acres of land, you still have neighbors. Get to know them, check in on them, heck even a simple wave, and “Good Morning” is a start.

So friends, wherever you may live, if you don’t really know your neighbors, why not take this new year as an opportunity to get to know them? A simple wave and a smile are a good way to start, that alone can show the love of Father.

Have a great day and week my friends 🙂 .

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
