This morning as I sat down to write this little blog, I was reflecting on a couple of things from yesterday. I realized how a few simple gifts I received just made me smile. Sometimes people don’t realize how much they can affect someone with something so simple. As the old saying goes, “It’s the thought that counts”.
Here’s what I mean, I got a text just before lunch yesterday from a friend that simply read, “Hey, I’ve been thinking about you, how’s it going”. Well that alone made me smile, but it got even better when instead of just replying to that text, I picked up the phone and called. We had a great conversation, caught up on things, and laughed. I hung up just feeling good having talked to this friend. A simple gift of a text to say how are you, it made a difference in my day.
Later in the day just before I left, the Amazon driver dropped off a box. It was addressed to my boss so I left it on his desk, (Fridays are his day off). A few minutes later I got an email from my boss with a picture of the box that was delivered, (you know, the Amazon guy takes a picture showing where he left the delivery). Anyway the email simply read, “Please go open a gift for you!”. I smiled and retrieved the box from his office and anxiously opened it. I laughed as I opened the flaps to find four boxes of Dunkin Donuts coffee K-cups. We have a Keurig in our office and I bring K-cups every few weeks. I replied to the email thanking him and smiled to myself as I put them away. A simple gift of coffee still has me smiling this morning.
Friends, sometimes the simplest of gifts can make a difference in the life of a person. Sometimes that gift is simply a smile and a hello. So as you start your weekend, keep in mind the ways you can change the lives of others. Pay it forward in the coffee line at Dunkin Donuts, just buy the coffee of the person behind you. Smile at the checker in the grocery store and say thank you to the person bagging the groceries. Just simple little ways to share some of God’s love in what you do. Opportunities to make the day better for someone else.
Have a great day and weekend friends. Thanks as always for stopping in to read this little blog each day 🙂 .

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
