Be Still…

This morning I made my way out to my patio to spend time with Father. As I mentioned yesterday, I needed to get back to having a conversation with Him rather than just reciting prayers. My relationship with him has kind of been on “auto-pilot” for the past few weeks and that isn’t where it should be. I asked as I often do in the mornings, “Father, what would you like me to share in the little blog this morning?”. I love when I feel His response, and it was almost instant this morning. Almost as soon as I asked the question the realization came over me how incredibly quiet it was outside. Usually, I will hear the wildlife or the cars on the highway, I mean this morning, I hear like nothing. The water in our lake wasn’t moving, the wind wasn’t blowing, no wildlife sounds, no cars, woa, it was quiet. Well, there you go, title and topic for this little blog.

You see I think that silence was Father’s answer to my question. There are times when He wants us to shut out the noise, to be still to be quiet, and listen to Him. We get so caught up in the craziness of our days, the noise so to speak that we don’t hear or see what might be right in front of us. I know my days have been like that recently, it’s busy, lots of things on my to-do list, phone ringing, meetings, events, etc. It’s easy to just go through the motions and forget that through it all I need to be a representative of Father.

Yesterday we actually had a little sunshine in our sunshine state. It’s been many, many days of clouds and rain, so it was nice to see the sun. I sat out on our dock at church for lunch to enjoy a little vitamin D. It was a nice break and time away from the business to just be with Father. Though not as quiet as this morning, it was also quiet and I enjoyed the water and the calmness. It was another reminder of the beauty that I’m blessed to enjoy in this world. It was another opportunity to be still and know that Father is in all things.

Friends, make a point to stop and be still. I know our days are swamped, and we’re involved in many things, however, we can’t be so involved that we forget to take time to be with Father. Carve out some time each day to enjoy the quiet, be still know that Father is there, and give thanks for His presence. I think you’ll find when you do, the day gets a little brighter and the stress a little less.

Have a great day my friends, may you find a little time in it to just be still.

Psalm 62:5-6
For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
