I’ve made the commitment this year to read the bible, (yes I do that anyway), however, this year I want to read it like you do every other book, from front to back. Like many people, I tend to bounce around different books of the Bible, so reading it front to back will be a new experience.
Last night as I was making my way through Genesis I read the verse where God placed all of the trees, including the “tree of life” and the “tree of knowledge, of good and evil”, in the garden of Eden. I couldn’t help but think when I read that verse, “The tree of knowledge, the tree that caused the first sin to be committed, why in the world did Father place this tree in the garden?”. If this tree had not been there, then satan would not have had the opportunity to dupe Eve into taking the apple.
This question has really been bugging me this morning, so more digging I must do, (she says in her best Yoda voice). I have a hard time believing that Father put the tree there just to test the children He created. That just doesn’t feel like something our Lord would do. He even goes so far as to tell Adam that he may eat from any tree in the garden, except from the tree of knowledge, for “in the day that you eat from it, you shall surely die”. Think about it, Father puts the tree in the garden and then tells Adam, you can eat from any tree except this one, because if you do, you will die. Umm, then why put that tree in the garden?
So, I’m going to be digging into the bible more and I’m pretty sure I will have tons more questions. I hope to understand the plans Father had for His children more fully. Actually, I don’t think I should say had, I should say has for His children. You see the Bible is the living word of God, it shouldn’t be read as past tense, it applies to all times, not just “back in the day”. There are just parts of it that show us how this whole thing called life began. Like events in history, I believe the thought is, that we learn from our ancestors, the very first ones in the Bible, and we don’t repeat mistakes. I realize that hindsight is 20/20, and as I read some of the biBle I think, “Why did they do that?”. Then I think of the modern day, and the mistakes I’ve made, ya I ask the same silly question.
Well, I’m looking forward to digging into Father’s word, and asking more questions. No, I won’t bore you all with every question I come up with, however, I might toss out some things to consider every now and then.
Kind of some deep thoughts on this Sunday morning. I wish you all a wonderful day, one filled with a little learning and growing in whatever you are doing. Have a great day everyone 🙂 .
