Last year I shared a story about becoming friends with a very handsome Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Toby. He’s the fur baby of one of our neighbors named Joe. You see, Joe lost his wife to cancer last year and Toby was very close to her. When Joe and Toby came back down for the season, Toby was so sad. He would spend most of the day with his mom while Joe would golf, run errands, etc. Well, Toby was alone when he came back. So, at that time I was still working from home so I volunteered to walk Toby a couple of times a day. It was a win/win. I love fur babies, it got me out of the house and walking, Toby wasn’t alone and Joe could golf with friends. Toby and I got to be close friends, he became my buddy.
Well, when I changed jobs and started working in an office again, my Toby time went away. I have to tell you I was really bummed, and I truly miss spending time with him during the day. Yes, I see him almost every day when Joe is walking him, usually around dinner time when we are outside grilling, but it’s not really the same.
A few days ago another neighbor reached out, she and Joe are kind of dating, and she mentioned that Joe was having minor knee surgery. She asked if I would be willing to take Toby for his evening walk, just for a few days until Joe healed. I was thrilled, Toby time, back with my buddy 🙂 .
Last night I picked up Toby, and Joe greeted me. He said he felt fine and didn’t think it would take him long to heal. Toby greeted me too, all excited and had plenty of kisses for me. Out the door we went, and the first thing I noticed as we rounded the corner was the incredible stars in the sky. They were so bright that you could see by their light. Toby and I made our way around the community, even running a few times. I just kept looking at that sky, realizing that I would have missed that beautiful sight if I hadn’t walked Toby at that time. Maybe Father had a plan for me? He knew I was missing Toby, and He knew there were important things to see, like those stars. A stretch you think? Nah, don’t underestimate the times that Father helps things to happen in your life.
Later in the evening while grilling my husband snapped a picture of the moonrise and it was pretty amazing. Not sure the cover of today’s blog does it justice. I’ve actually seen our local news station posting other pictures of it this morning, it was a sight for sure. When I watched that moon rise I thanked Father again for the gifts he so freely gives, like that moon and the stars and yes, time back with my buddy Toby.
Have a great day friends and take a little time this weekend to just thank Father for the many simple gifts He provides 🙂 .
