I’ve been a country music fan for as long as I can remember. I’m a fan of the old stuff for sure. Don’t get me wrong, some of the new artists are awesome, I just like the oldies. I shared many little blogs ago that Johnny Cash is actually a cousin on my mom’s side. Maybe that’s where the love of country music started.
I guess I find country music has connections to everyday life. Down to earth, telling stories about how things really are, the music seems more personal, but that is totally just my opinion.
This morning in this little blog I wanted to lift prayers for one of those “old-time” country artists. He was a legend in many ways, but so down to earth. Jesus escorted Toby Keith home to Father last night. He had battled cancer for the last several years, and yesterday Father simply said it’s time to come home. The statement from his family was short, “Toby passed away peacefully last night surrounded by his family. He fought his fight gracefully and with courage”.
My friends, we are all born with talents, we are all given opportunities to share those talents. Toby shared his gift of voice with millions. At the end of the day though, our relationship with Father, family and friends, those are what matter. When the time comes, may our family be able to say, “They passed away peacefully surrounded by family”. May we live our life in service to Father, and in service to others, sharing our talents along the way.
Rest in Peace Toby, and thank you for sharing your gift over the years. May you sing now with the heavenly hosts.
John 11:25
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.
