It Spreads – Prayer Does

Yesterday as the news broke about the passing of Toby Keith, as we usually do, we began to see posts on social media sending condolences to the family, and lifting of prayers for comfort. What struck me yesterday though, I witnessed much more than those words of comfort. I saw prayers lifted and spreading to others.

I’m in several text message groups with friends. We all were initially texting about the news of Toby’s passing and how sad we were. We lifted prayers for his family, but then someone requested prayers for a friend. And another request for prayers, and then another. In a different text group, the same types of requests. Before long prayers were being lifted for many across the country. Yes, it spreads, the power of prayer spreads when needed the most.

I’ve said before that prayer is a very powerful thing. I truly believe when prayer is lifted in mass, yes, I think even Father stops and says, “Woa, OK, they understand how powerful they are”. I also think though that it is important to not only lean into prayer through the difficult times, but through the good times as well. For instance, several months ago you all helped me pray for Baby Maevryn. She was a very sick little girl and your prayers I know helped heal that sweet little angel. Well, you can lift more prayers for this family as Mavryn is going to be a big sister, um, she’s going to be a big sister to two younger siblings. Yes, her mom is pregnant with twins 🙂 . So lifting prayers for energy, and a healthy pregnancy are appreciated.

Yes friends, let’s let the power of prayer spread through our days. Praying for strength, peace, healing, and praying for continued joy and gifts we share. It’s a powerful thing and when it spreads, well, it becomes even more powerful. Have a wonderful day everyone 🙂 .

James 5:16
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
