Listen

Well, there’s a simple title for today’s little blog. A single word but my, it conveys so much. You all know I spend time each morning before I sit down here, talking with Father. It’s my “check-in” with Him before I start the day. It’s kind of like grounding myself before the day’s business takes over and if I skip that time with Him, I can tell the difference in my day.

I’ve also shared that my morning time with Father helps me to prepare somewhat for this little blog. There are many days, as I’ve shared before when I sit down, I don’t have a clue what to write about, and then Father will usually give me something. Well, on this morning, like many others, I just asked for guidance, “Help me to share your message”, I said. I have to admit, I was still drawing a blank when I left my time on the patio and made my way here to my desk. I sat for several minutes staring at the screen, a blank page so to speak. Back to Father I went, I bowed my head and let myself relax this time, asking again for guidance. This time it was a pretty clear message, “Listen”. I could almost hear Him, like any other parent say, “Listen to me”, and then I was like duh…

It’s easy at times to feel like God doesn’t answer our prayers. Could it be though that we just aren’t listening? Perhaps we just aren’t taking the time to stop, let ourselves really focus, and listen to Father. And…sometimes the answers we receive may not be what we want to hear. Only God knows the plan for our lives, however, He will guide us through this plan if we let Him. It’s when we think we have a better plan that things go awry. But…Father gives us free will to make our own plans. I’ve learned through many, many mistakes in my life, that things tend to work out better when I let Him help me follow HIS plan.

So my friends, as you begin this day, I just encourage you first to spend a little time talking with Father, and then, take even more time to actually listen to Him. You won’t be disappointed. If you’re like me, you’ll find the regrounding you need each day 🙂 . Have a great day!

Matthew 17:5
He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”
