Take Time to Make Time

A friend reached out a few days ago to say she was in town, well not far from me anyway, and asked if we could have lunch. My schedule that particular day was crazy and I was bummed as I replied that I didn’t think it would work out. A little while later she texted to say that she had changed her schedule and would be in town one more day. Well, how could I pass that up?

We had lunch yesterday outside at one of our local places. We had a wonderful time catching up on the latest with family, friends, and work. We discussed her spring break plans, (hint, she’s coming back here with her grandson so we can fish), and we just enjoyed the time together. After lunch we took the always favorite selfie and gave hugs as she headed off to do some shopping in one of our local well-known shops, (that’s for another blog though).

This morning as I look back on lunch yesterday I’m so thankful that she made the time to get together. I’m glad that I cleared things on my schedule to see her. We were both busy, but we made the time. It’s important, as the song says, to “Take time to make time, make time to be there”. Too often we let things get in the way of connecting with family and friends, and that really does need to change. This life is so short, and our priorities many times are so wonky, we really need to stop and make the time to be together. I believe that Father wants His children to be together to support one another and to lift each other when needed.

So friends, as we head into this weekend, take a moment to reach out to family or friends to make plans to chat or be together. Take some time to make the time. I think it’s safe to say, you’ll be glad you did. Have a great day friends πŸ™‚ .

Proverbs 27:9
Oil and perfume make the heart glad, and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel.
