Last night some friends of ours asked us to come by and watch the sunset on the way home. It was an impromptu invite that grew into having a light dinner while wiggling toes in the sand. I didn’t realize it until I sat in the beach chair, and looked around at the families and friends all across the beach doing the same thing, just how much I needed that salt air and water fix. As I’ve said before, you really can’t explain the change in your mood when you step onto a beach. Everyone there last night was so relaxed, so easygoing, so happy. I know that many people don’t care for the sand and the beach, but I’m guessing if you don’t, you certainly have a favorite geographical location that makes you feel this way 🙂 .
We had a wonderful time catching up, enjoyed some great food, and did a little people-watching, including one adorable toddler named Ayden who wandered all around just being as cute as he could be. What I realized while sitting there, and typing this morning, these little types of impromptu gatherings, they’re good for us. We need to stop and make time to be with friends and family. It’s funny, we talked last night about the things on our to-do lists and how we need to just start getting things done. Yet, we took the time to sit in the midst of one of Father’s most special gifts and spend time together.
We had great conversations last night, everything from cars and condos to food and faith. It’s interesting how Father can guide a conversation. How He just seems to make His way in and provide opportunities to be there to support. I just keep seeing how His children continue to come together, to help each other.
So friends, as we begin this weekend, I just encourage you to have one of the impromptu gatherings. Call up family and friends and get together, have conversation, laugh, enjoy happy places, and make some memories. Be there for each other, it’s what Father calls us to do 🙂 .
Oh, and thank you also for the prayers yesterday for Leah and Michele’s mom. They are working!!
Have a great day my friends!
Hebrews 10:25
Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
