Ah yes, yesterday we all felt it, the spring forward into daylight savings time. I have to admit, I’m not sure why we can’t just stay on one and not go back and forth each spring and fall. People were all a little “off” yesterday. It happens I guess when you suddenly lose an hour of sleep, even if you were planning on it. Our friends who we do Sunday breakfast with each week, they even changed their clocks at 4:00pm on Saturday so they would go to bed at the new time in hopes they would feel like they hadn’t lost that hour. Nah, it didn’t work, they said they still felt “off”.
As the day progressed things got a little easier, and then last night when it came time for dinner, we were actually able to sit outside in the light to enjoy it. This is the best part of the time change, the longer days, later sunsets and being able to enjoy the gift of the sun for a little longer.
My husband and I found ourselves on the lanai for most of the evening, instead of in front of the tv. Even after almost 40 years together, we found ourselves talking about things we’ve never really talked about. You know, important stuff like, “What shows did you watch at night when you were a kid?”. I have to admit I had to think about that one 🙂 . The point is, we were spending time together, talking and just being. Yes, I’m all for staying on this particular time schedule.
I can’t help but wonder, what did Father intend with the sunrise and sunset? Did He want us to be on daylight savings or not? I would like to think that He wanted us to have as much sun as possible. He, after all, created the “greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night”. I think He knows that the sunlight has a wonderful effect on His children. We all feel better when we can enjoy the sunshine.
I hope you had the chance to enjoy the longer day yesterday, and I hope you take the time to continue to enjoy them. Make time to be with the ones you love – talk, be together, and continue to grow in your relationships.
Have a wonderful day my friends, may it be filled with sunshine 🙂 .
