My husband and I have a practice of saying grace before we eat. It doesn’t matter if we’re grabbing something quick while driving, having holiday dinner, breakfast with friends, or just eating at the kitchen table at home, we say a little prayer. It’s just ingrained in us, it’s second nature and we just give thanks for the gift of food before us.
There are times though when saying the prayer is awkward. It shouldn’t be I know, however sometimes if you are with people you don’t know well, you are unsure of how to interrupt and ask to give thanks. Why is that? Even today, when I’m closer in my relationship with Father than I’ve ever been, I find it difficult at times to just give thanks in the open. It’s something I need to work on for sure.
I guess that’s what it’s all about though, openly declaring our love of Father and our thanks for the gifts He provides. He for centuries has simply asked that we follow Him and that we show His love to others. We can’t very well do that if we aren’t openly showing our love of Him.
I think about Christians who have been persecuted, those who have literally lost their lives for being a follower of Christ. They never renounced their faith, they stood strong and ultimately died for their relationship with Father. If placed in that position, am I strong enough to do the same? Am I willing to die for Father? I believe I am, however, something as simple as saying a prayer in the open sometimes has me nervous.
I guess that’s where I need to lean in more to my relationship with God. I need to ask Him for the strength to overcome whatever nervousness I may have, however silly that may be. In all situations, Father is there to make us stronger. He is there to show us how to be strong and yet humble in our faith.
So, I’ll continue to strive every day to share my love of Father in the best way I can. I’ll keep growing in that relationship, and when I mess up, I’ll ask Him to help me be better. His love, in the open, that’s totally where it belongs π .
Deep thoughts in this little blog this morning, but you know me, if it comes to mind, it usually ends up here. Thanks as always for checking in here, and your support, it means the world to me. Have a great day friends!
Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
