Have you noticed the noise lately? All around us, there is noise, and I’m not just referring to sounds. The activities, distractions, and so many things that keep us from doing what needs to be done.
This morning, I sat down to have my morning time with Father. My head was filled with so many things, (family events, work projects, home projects), I couldn’t even focus enough to pray. Umm, ya that is not good. I had to ask Father to just clear my head enough to focus on Him, and admittedly even after doing so, I still found myself wandering. What in the world I ask, is so darn important that I can’t focus on God? I guess we all know the answer to that, there is absolutely nothing in this world that should come before Him. I forced myself to clear my head and dove into the Lord’s Prayer, a focused prayer that didn’t allow me to trail off in another direction.
The noise of today’s world, today’s life, it’s just that, noise. I don’t know about you, but I’ve let the noise clutter my head to the point of not having Father in the center. I come here every day and share with you how we need to focus on God, to have Him first and foremost in our lives, yet, here I sit some days not doing it myself, and for that I’m sorry.
As I type this, I’m thinking of ways to be more with Father today. Just little things I can do to eliminate the noise, the distractions. The question is, can I do those little things, or will something come along to pull me away? What will my priority be? I can say, of course it will be God, I can even believe it, but until I make the choice to put Him first, well, is that just noise too?
Father, please guide my steps today, help me to walk closer with you. Strip away the noise, clear the distractions, and show me the path that helps me to walk in your ways. Let me glorify you in all that I do today. Father help me to be a better child of yours.
Friends, we are all human, we make mistakes, we do things we shouldn’t and we don’t do things we should. It’s important to recognize when we stray, to purposefully bring ourselves back to Him. Father will help us if we but ask.
As we make our way deeper into Holy Week, may we be rid of the noise that might prevent us from being closer to Father.
Psalm 62:5
For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.
