Today is the most solemn day of the year. The day when one man gave His life for the world. Father sacrificed His only Son, sent from Heaven, given to us, to literally die for us. The depth of love that is shown in this act is beyond anything our minds and hearts can even imagine.

Yet through everything that Jesus went through, some of His final words were, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Just think for a moment, Jesus was spat upon, mocked, beaten, flogged, (if you are not sure what this means specifically, well, I’ll just say it’s brutal), they pushed a crown of thorns onto His head, dragged Him, and then after all of that, they literally nailed Him to a cross to die. I know I am being graphic, but on this day, every day, we need to remember this incredible sacrifice. And, remember His words, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Friends, whether you go to church on Good Friday or not, I encourage you to remember the events of this day. At noon wherever you are, stop and say a prayer, this is the time Jesus was nailed to the cross. Then again at 3:00 p.m. wherever you are, please stop and say a prayer. This is when Jesus breathed his last.

Jesus gave His life for us. From the moment He was born, He knew how it would go. He was sent here for one mission and it was fulfilled perfectly. May we never take for granted the gift that He gave. Today, and every day may we remember His life, and His gift of life, life everlasting.
