I had the day off yesterday and spent it in a place that makes my heart happy, on the water. A friend of mine is in town with her grandson, he’s 13, and a buddy of mine you might say. We’ve gone fishing together, we have dinner a our local places, and yesterday we took a jet ski tour around the 10,000 islands.
Not only was it a great time watching this teenage boy go from learning how to navigate this watercraft, to being a pro within 45 minutes, but it was time on the water that even I didn’t realize I needed. As we made our way through the mangroves, I felt myself relax. It’s been a very busy couple of weeks leading up to Easter, and the time to step away totally from the office, away from my cell phone, away from the home to-do list, and just enjoy the water and sunshine, ya, it was a gift.
It was more than just having the day off though. As we rode yesterday I found myself talking with Father. I thanked him for the beautiful day and the calmness of the water. I gave thanks for the dolphins that gave quite the show as we coasted past their pods, (they actually love to play in the wake of the skis). I found myself thanking Him for the gift of being able to witness His beautiful creation in such a special way.
Friends I’ve mentioned here many times before how we need to take time to enjoy the gifts that Father has given. These are gifts that cost us nothing, the beauty that is right in front of us. The gift of a little downtime, the gift of family, the gift of friendship, (like my buddy), the gift of God’s creation this world we call home, the gift of His son.
When the opportunity presents itself, take a little time to enjoy those gifts that He has given. And…more importantly, take time to create those opportunities.
Have a great day my friends 🙂 .

Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift.
