Well, in case you weren’t aware, today we’ll experience a rare full solar eclipse. Depending on where you are there could be over four minutes, (weather.com says it could be as long as 7.5 minutes), of darkness during the daytime.
Unfortunately like so many things in this world, even the solar eclipse has created ugliness among God’s children. There are people who are gathering to watch this event in various places around the country. Some are gathering just to watch and experience it, others feel they are being called to gather and pray by Father as the earth falls into darkness during the day, and yet others feel it’s ok to make fun of those who are gathering.
Here are my thoughts, and again they are my thoughts, you don’t have to agree with them, you don’t have to share them, it’s ok to have a different opinion, that doesn’t hurt my feelings. Today there will be a solar eclipse. Whether you believe it or not, it’s a rare event, especially given the length of time it will occur. Like all things that happen in nature, whether you believe it or not, Father has a hand in it. He created the earth, the sun, and the moon and He has control over how they interact. So, whether you believe it or not, yes, Father is at work here. Is this event happening at this time for a reason? Is He asking His children to stop and take notice of what is happening, I believe He is.
Today will be an opportunity for many to move from darkness to light, and that is not a terrible thing. For those who are gathering to pray through it all, I say Amen. There is nothing wrong with gathering to pray, Father asks us to do that. For those who don’t believe in that, well ok that is your choice as well. What is not ok for any of us is to make fun of and be nasty to those who are gathering to pray. We are better than this, we are God’s children and we are called to be better than the behavior being displayed.
So, whether you are in the path of “full totality” today or not, I will always encourage the opportunity to gather and pray. It’s not a bad thing to come into the light from darkness.
John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life”.
