Have you ever left your phone somewhere and realized later that it truly wasn’t the end of the world? Actually, it was kind of nice not to have it with you, to just enjoy the silence. I’ve found myself in that situation a few times lately, and yes I’ve enjoyed the break and have found myself doing just fine without the digital connection all the time.
Last night one of our neighbors texted me and asked if we had internet or TV services. My husband and I were just sitting down to dinner, and I without even thinking texted back that we did, no problem. I had just finished sending some emails a few minutes early from my desk so I knew we had internet. Not long after that text, we sat down in front of the TV only to find an error message from our internet provider. I went back to my desk and sure enough, no internet either. Yep, it was true, no connection.
Oh my, now what? Well from my perspective, no problem, we dropped in a dvd and finished dinner. Over the next hour, I received several text messages and saw messages on our community FB page that our cable/internet service was down and it could be a full day before we had service again. Hmmm, what will we do without that internet/cable connection?
As I sat this morning and had my chat with Father I noticed around the community, how quiet it was. Perhaps Father was at work again, removing the digital noise from our lives long enough for us to recognize what is important. Perhaps, He’s giving us a reminder of simpler times before we were connected to a digital world 24/7. Perhaps He wants us to spend time connecting with Him instead of being glued to our phones, tablets, or tv’s. Maybe He wants us to connect more with His creation, digging in the dirt, taking a walk in the woods, enjoying a sunrise or sunset. Maybe he wants us to connect with each other in person, not through a digital device.
I do think that Father is continuing to show us there is more to this life than our technology. I think He’s asking us to look around and see. Simple reminders He keeps putting in front of us.
So, if you are without that digital connection today, no worries, get outside and enjoy a different kind of connection, one with Father.
Have a great day everyone 🙂 .

Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
