The last few days my husband and I have been traveling. Our grandson graduated from high school this past weekend. You can learn a little more about him in this little blog. We had a wonderful time visiting family and friends back home, and the graduation was so great. Our grandson was awesome as he walked the stage and even got the cap toss in π .
We actually drove home from Illinois this go around, having to bring home some items that had been in storage since we moved to FL. We headed home on Sunday afternoon and took a scenic route so we could make a stop and visit some more family and friends on the way. As my husband and I drove Route 1 through southern IL and into IN, we commented on how we had never taken this route. We were both born and raised in IL and never had we been on that road. As we drove those three hours along the two-lane route for most of the trip, we realized that this was America. It was filled with small towns, rolling hills of the most rich and healthy farmland, grain silos, tractors, lakes and ponds. It was simply beautiful. The gift of Father’s creation was so on display through those small little towns.
Later in the day, we made our way into TN to stop and spend the night with friends. Again, we ventured off the interstate and took some back roads through the state. Of course, the mountains in the background, were stunning, but the wavy roads and country feel again made me realize how beautiful our country is.
On Monday we headed out and the drive through Chattanooga, well what can you say. You don’t even realize you are traveling on the interstate, making your way through the mountains, well, there is nothing quite like it. Again, the gift of Father’s creation, yes it was still on display through the hills of TN.
Friends, we are so blessed to live in this land. Father has given us a creation like no other. From the farm country of the Midwest to the hills of TN, the beauty of the Southwest, the hills and lakes of the Northeast, and of course, the beaches and ocean in the Southeast, we are simply blessed. If you have not had the opportunity to take the back roads as you travel, I strongly encourage it. Get off the main highways and take in some very simple beauty, and when you do, give thanks to God for the gift of this place we call home.
Have a great day my friends π .
