The past few weeks I’ve been enjoying watching the updates from friends and family as they plant their gardens. For many, it’s actually their first time putting in a garden, and it’s been fun to watch their excitement grow as their crop grows. Many of my friends are starting gardens for the first time with their children, teaching them how to water and weed, and tend to their work. These are great lessons and skills to be teaching for certain.
There is something about working in a garden, digging in the soil, and making the soil ready for new life, that is relaxing. There is a connection to Father when you work with the land. Remember, He formed us from the dust of the ground. I like to think that He smiles when He sees us digging around, planting, and growing food to sustain us, rather than relying on others to do it for us. There is something rewarding about making a meal knowing that it came from ingredients you grew with your own hands. And…produce from your own garden, it just tastes better 🙂 . Oh, and there is one other small thing, it’s just a tad cheaper than buying from the store.
I’ve missed the garden from home since we moved to SW FL. However, I’m a pretty creative sort and I’ve been evaluating some ways to put one or two plants in. I do have an indoor aero garden, but it’s not the same, I need to dig in some dirt. I’ll keep you all updated as I figure this one out 🙂 .
Friends, if you have the space, I just encourage you to give a garden a try. It doesn’t have to be huge, just a couple of plants. Actually, you would be surprised how much bounty can come from just a few plants. If you don’t have space for a garden, then just plant a few flowers in some pots. Give it a try, you might be surprised at how connected you feel to Father as you spend just a little time digging in the dirt. Oh and if you have a garden, reply to this post on social media with some pictures, I love to see the progress!
Have an awesome day my friends, I’m off to figure out where to put a few plants 🙂 .
Genesis 2:7
Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
