I’m guessing I’m not unlike many people in that housework is one of my least favorite things to do. Now granted, it’s just my husband and I, so admittedly our house is pretty tidy most of the time. My office occasionally looks like the Tasmanian devil ripped through it, especially if I’m planning an event, but otherwise, it’s ok. Even though we keep things tidy, there are times when you still have to do the deep cleaning. Well, yesterday was one of those times. I have to admit, it wasn’t on my radar to spend one of the days of the three-day weekend cleaning. However, I’m always glad once it’s over and everything just feels better.
While my husband grabbed the vac, I made the much-needed grocery store run. Once home, I did some major old-fashioned dusting, you know like taking things off the furniture and dusting, and even cleaning those items π . Deep cleaning of the bathrooms was next. Oh and then, ugh, the worst, mopping the floors. That one is my total least favorite on the list of chores that have to be done.
Something happened though while I was scrubbing the floors, I found myself chatting with Father in my head. I know it sounds silly but I could almost hear Him saying, “This is your home, keep it in order”. As I made my way through the kitchen and the various halls, I just kept chatting with Him and before I knew it I was done. I looked around and just felt good at what had been accomplished.
Later in the day, we found ourselves outside working on even more chores, simple things but needed. I cleaned out my tackle box, fixed one of our beach umbrellas, (now you know what I’m doing today), trimmed a few plants, and gave them some much-needed water. As I walked back inside to get a shower, I noticed immediately how clean everything smelled. It was inviting to come back in if that makes sense.
Friends, I guess the point of this little blog today is that in all that we do, we should do it to honor Father. He provides all that we have and it’s important to take care of it. Whether it’s our home, our family, or our relationship with friends, we must tend to the gifts we have in this life. Have a wonderful day my friends π .
