We all find ourselves in situations where we have to turn the proverbial cheek. It’s not easy, we feel hurt, sadness, or even pity, as in pity party for ourselves. When these situations occur I think Father is asking us not to just let it go and walk away, I think He asks us to handle the situation with grace.
Sometimes we need to step away and evaluate the underlying cause of the unpleasant behavior we may have experienced. Was the person just having a bad day, are they afraid of something, are they dealing with a situation in their lives that is causing them angst? Trying to understand what may be happening on their end will help us to handle the situation with grace and care. Now, I’m not the best person to handle things in this manner of course, hence why I’m here writing about it. I’m reminding myself as well 🙂 . But seriously, I think if we can indeed step back and ask the questions, and probe a little bit, we may find answers that help diffuse, calm and, ultimately right a situation where we feel wronged.
As I’ve said before friends, Father didn’t promise that this life would be easy, I mean hey, humans are involved so nothing is ever easy 🙂 . What He does promise is that He will always be here to guide us, strengthen us, and love us. That my friends is what helps us turn the cheek with grace.
Have a wonderful day, I’m off to spend the morning with some wonderful women and catch up on that paint-by-number project I’ve been working on for three years 🙂 .
Matthew 5:39
But I say to you, do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
