Last night my husband and I stopped on the way home from work to grab a bite to eat. Many of the local restaurants run wonderful specials during the off-season here. It gives the locals a chance to visit new places without the crazy crowds, and in turn, we help the small business owners to keep the seats filled while it’s slower. It’s a win/win for sure.
We glanced at our watch and realized how early it still was, (unusual for us to have an early dinner). We decided to decline the dessert menu and opt for one of my husband’s favorite ice cream shops instead. He walks down memory lane every time we go there, getting his favorite ice cream, (peppermint with chocolate syrup on top).
So, we left the restaurant, made a stop at home to change, and made our way to Scoops. Oh and a little side note, the ice cream shop is just two minutes from the beach. As he usually does, my husband strolled up and down looking for the coveted peppermint container. There it was and his eyes lit up. He placed his order and anxiously awaited while she made this childhood concoction. It was fun to watch him in anticipation. We finished our treats and made our way to the beach to watch what I was pretty sure would be a stunner of a sunset, (header picture of today’s little blog).
We wandered onto the beach and I noticed the little children all around. They were running into the water, digging in the sand, loading up buckets with shells, you get the idea. I noticed something more though, I noticed the parents and grandparents doing much of the same thing. Looking around, I saw the happiness they shared, the wonder in not just the kids but the adults.
As I sat down to write this little blog this morning, Father gave me the words, “The children in us all”. I think sometimes He wants us to remember to be like those little ones, pure in heart, full of wonder, and unconditional love. Take the opportunities to enjoy the gifts He provides, little things like peppermint ice cream, and a beautiful sunset. Let the child in us shine through every now and then π .
Have a great day my friends, and hey, take the time to go enjoy your favorite ice cream π .

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
