OK, so you all know that Saturdays are usually what I call my day. A little slower to rise, no set schedule, (usually), and just a relaxed day. Well, yesterday at work I found myself with pretty much the office to myself. Our part-time janitor was there in the morning and cleaned the office. We chatted and laughed about things, and she left shortly before 1:00 as she usually does.
All of a sudden I looked around and yep I was it. Several of our team are on vacation and Friday is a standard day off for many as they work on Sunday. So there I was all by my lonesome. It was kind of nice actually. I dug into working on some upcoming events we have beginning in August. Got a head start on some daily tasks for next week and then made a full walk around the campus, the landscapers had been there in the morning and I had a full list for them, so I wanted to check things out.
As I made my way through the afternoon I found myself chatting with Father. My thoughts went to Him as I stood at the paper cutter making scorecards for our fishing tournament and asking Him to make it a day filled with fellowship, fun, and fish of course. Our fishing tourney is the best, and the kids love it, but that’s for another little blog.
I openly talked with Him as I walked the campus looking at the newly pruned bushes, checking out a grassy area that has been struggling, but is making its way back after much-needed rain, and the empty space where a tree that had fallen had to be removed. I stood on the dock looking out across the cove and said out loud, “Thank you, Father, for this simple yet precious gift”.
I walked over to the church to set up for the Sunday service. This is a special time for me on Friday afternoons. It is a meaningful time to carefully set the table for the service. As you can imagine this is quality time with Father as I think about the sacrifice of His Son. Yesterday was no different, it was a special time and a nice wind-down of the day.
It was a great day to catch up on some work projects, but more importantly to spend time with Father throughout the day.
The phone barely rang, and without the day-to-day comings and goings of office staff and visitors, I had time to truly focus on Him. These days are rare and when they happen, it’s important for us to recognize the opportunity to be with God.
So, friends, I hope Father presents you with a day like I had yesterday. I hope you are able to just be with Him. We can all carve out those special times if we truly focus on Him. Whatever plans you have for today, just take some time to talk with Jesus. Continue to build that relationship, that Father/Child bond He wants with us.
Have a great day my friends 🙂 .

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
