Yesterday afternoon my husband and I made a trip to Marco Island, you all kind of know it’s my happy place. As we made our way there, almost right on cue for summertime in Florida, an afternoon shower rolled in. It’s a welcome sight given that we’ve been in a drought the last few years. It was a little bit of a doozy, even making it difficult to see the car in front of us. It wasn’t long though before downpour became a drizzle.
Not long after we got home the grey clouds and drizzle had turned into puffy white clouds surrounded by blue skies. I had a feeling that we’d probably see a beautiful sunset. That’s another plus with these summer storms, they tend to yield gorgeous evening skies.
Sure enough, not long after dinner I glanced out the window and the colors were beginning to streak across the sky. As I usually do, I grabbed my phone and began to document the change in the horizon as the sun set. I’m always amazed at how Father paints that canvas, the simple gift of a sunset after an afternoon rain. I don’t know how anyone couldn’t believe in God when you see something so beautiful.
I don’t think I will ever tire of watching a beautiful sunrise or sunset. Each time I stop and just give thanks. I think these moments are a regrounding of sorts. Just those simple times when Father reminds me that He is here, and He is in control, (contrary to what I may think sometimes).
Friends, we are truly blessed. We have gifts in our lives that literally cost nothing, yet so many times we are too busy to see them. So, make a point to stop and watch the sunrise, or set, stop and smell the roses so to speak. The beauty that is right before us is a gift to enjoy. Father provides so much for us, let’s give thanks and enjoy those gifts.
Have a great day my friends, I’m off to hopefully catch a sunrise before today’s rains 🙂 .
Hosea 6:3
Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.
