My brother and I have been having this humorous discussion recently via text. You see he tends to like cooler temperatures, and of course, I love hot weather, hence why I live in SW FL. Anyway, the conversation began a few weeks ago as we’re trying to find a time for him and my sister-in-law to come down for a visit. He mentioned that they were headed to MT this week for a few days, they have property there and are looking to build their dream log cabin for their retirement.
This is where the humor comes inβ¦I’ve been telling him for years that I don’t understand anyone wanting to retire to Montana, especially in the winter. Most people as they get older prefer to spend their senior days where it’s warm. So I reminded him again in a text, “I still don’t understand why you want to live in MT in the winter”. To which he replied, “I don’t understand why you want to be in FL in the summer.” I said, “Well, we at least have a large body of water here to keep us cool”. He replied, “Ya, it’s called humidity”. π I suggested that we visit each other when needed, us there in the summer, and they come here in the winter.
Yesterday he sent me some photos from their day at Glacier National Park, they had scaled a mountainside and I have to admit, the scenery was gorgeous! Even with the snow! The beauty of this land never ceases to amaze me. The mountains, the blue sky, yes, I understand why Montana appeals to so many π . By the way, one of the pictures he sent to me is the cover photo of today’s little blog.
Father’s creation is amazing, and there is something for everyone. We all like different places, the beauty of the heartland, the mountains and streams, the desert of the southwest, and yes the beaches of the southeast. Different areas of this great land yes, but we are all together in the love of these areas. As I say frequently, Father has blessed us with a priceless gift of this place we all call home. This gift of creation that He built in just six days.
Friends, we need to make time to enjoy this gift. Step outside and see the beauty. Yes, we all have a special place, our happy place so to speak. So, make time to be there, and make time to branch out and see those places you’ve never been. Funny thing about the continental U.S. you can drive from one end to the other. You might just find a new happy place, or a backup one anyway, (just saying, I’m not going to MT in the winter).
Have a great day my friends π .
Psalm 95:4-5
In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.
