This week has been filled with various emotions, and my goodness it’s only Wednesday. I’m not sure how many of you have the same feeling. As I mentioned yesterday, I am sad that our country has come to this point. Like many, I’m uneasy about the events of last weekend. This great nation needs love and forgiveness, she doesn’t deserve the ugliness, the anger, the disrespect she’s been given for many, many years. We, God’s children are so much better than this.
As I sat this morning talking with Father, I prayed that He would forgive me of my sins and would guide me today with a more open heart. Even as I think about my daily routine at work I find areas where I need to ask for forgiveness. It’s amazing how easy it is to slip into a thought or a simple action that was uncalled for.
I asked Father this morning as I do many times, to help me understand what message He would like me to share today in this little blog. Clearly, without hesitation, I heard forgiveness. Ok, I thought, I can do that. It’s not the first time I’ve heard this message from Father. This time though, what became clear was “I” in the word forgiveness. Do you notice there is only one “i” in the word? Is that on purpose? When you focus on the word, meaning just look at it for a moment, I mean like stare at it, you see that the “i” sits almost in the middle and almost jumps out at you. I forgive. I don’t know that this is a coincidence.
What also came to mind this morning as I was looking at this word and the “i”, there is also the “eye” piece. Meaning, looking back at myself, seeing that I need forgiveness as well. That might sound a little convoluted, maybe a stretch even, however, we do all need forgiveness just as we give it.
My message this morning friends, is a simple one really, we have to stop and open our hearts. As difficult as we think it might be, it truly is necessary if this land is going to heal. So as we go about our days, let’s start by just finding the little ways in which forgiveness can be given. Let’s write the word forgive on a post-it note and keep it close. Each time we look at it, we can see the “I Forgive” come off the page. Just a simple reminder. Hey today, is a good day to start 🙂 .
Let us remember that Father is here, He knows our hearts, He knows we are not perfect. He forgives when we falter, and He just wants us to do the same. We got this friends. Have a great day everyone 🙂 .
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
