My granddaughter has always been a note-leaver. What does that mean you ask? Well, whenever she would come to our house my husband and I would find these little notes that she would leave for us. Usually, we’d find them on the desks in our offices. Just short little notes that were so special. When we used to travel to Florida each year, we would come home to a note that simply read, “Welcome home hope you had fun. Call me please love you”.
Over the years we have both built quite a collection of these little notes, many of which are still stuck prominently to the bottom of my computer screens on my desk. Each morning I glance at those notes and smile at the memories of her growing up over the years.
Last night I was surprised by another little note from her. My husband just returned from a trip to see some old friends and a bonus dinner with our kids and grandkids. Our granddaughter sent home a package, it was a belated birthday gift for me. I opened the pouch last night to find a beautifully colored 4th of July wish, (she’s also given me so many wonderful pictures that she’s colored over the years). Along with the pictures were some awesome stickers she made with her Cricut and another cool picture she made. It was a fun package of goodies. The best thing in the package though was one of those little notes just like she used to write when she was younger. It was a simple message but it was all I needed š .
Friends, we all have the opportunity to share simple notes with others. They don’t have to be lengthy, they can be a simple, “I’m thinking about you, I miss you and I love you”. Our simple words can make the difference in someone’s day, or more importantly someone’s life. Simple notes and words can bring us closer together and can make us stronger.
So in the busyness of the days, take a moment to share a simple note with family and friends. Whether it’s a text, or a note on a post it left for your spouse in the morning, share a piece of yourself today. Oh and yes, that simple note I got from my granddaughter, ya, it’s taped to my computer screen with the others š .
Continued prayers today, many prayers lifted for Emily Rea. Father hear our prayers to return this sweet child of yours home to her family.
Romans 15:4
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
