From the Heart

These three little words, from the heart, they can mean so much depending on the context. As I was thinking about this little blog post this morning, doing what I often do, asking Father for guidance, the word forgiveness popped into my head. So I asked, “Ok Father, I write about forgiveness quite a bit, what can I share differently today”. I clearly heard, “From the heart”. Ok, I get it.

I think it’s easy sometimes to say the words “I forgive”, however, it’s another thing to truly mean it from the heart. From the heart means we totally let go of the pain, or unhappiness we may be holding onto. I mean let’s face it, we want things to be made right, we want there to be accountability when we feel wronged or hurt. Well, I think this is what Father was sharing with me this morning. We have to remember that at the end of the day, He will take care of the accountability part. He will take care of making things right. He just asks us to forgive the act and let go of the pain. Better yet, forgive and release it to Him to “do His thing” so to speak.

Maybe that’s a way to look at forgiveness. We dig deep into our hearts, forgive the situation and then say, “Ok Father here you go, do your thing” 🙂 . I’m not trying to make light of things, but seriously, maybe if we think about it this way, it might be easier to forgive. I mean, God is in control, and me carrying around the burdens that make my heart heavy, well quite frankly, it’s just silly. I think it’s much easier and makes for happier days if I forgive, and let go of the heaviness knowing that God has this.

So friends, give some thought to those burdens you may be carrying. Let go of them, forgive, truly from the heart, and then let Father do His thing, let Him take it from there. I’m guessing we’ll find things seem a little lighter and brighter.

Mark 11:25
And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
