Yesterday my husband and I celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary. We’ve known each other more than 40 years and at one point yesterday I thought, wow, that’s a long time 🙂 . We had a very simple wedding, celebrated with friends afterwards, and the next night my mom hosted a lovely dinner for our families. It was simple, but special 🙂 .
We didn’t do anything special yesterday. We went to dinner last weekend to “celebrate” at one of our favorite restaurants, but really nothing major. Yesterday morning we kissed and said “Happy Anniversary, I love you”, and then we made our way through the day as we usually do. Last night my husband gave to me the bestest card ever. It said all the things that I feel about him and it made my heart happy.
Last night as I spent time with Father before bed, I thanked Him for bringing my husband into my life. I thanked Him for the years together. We’ve had our challenges, every marriage does. Let’s face it, marriage is hard work, but like life, if we make God the center of it, then it only strengthens and helps us grow together. I realized last night that every day is an anniversary. Every day that we are together is another celebration, it’s another day that we didn’t have before, so yes it’s an anniversary.
Many friends have commented that my husband and I are such a “cute couple”. They tell us, “You two are so happy together”. Well, that would be because we are. As cliche as it might sound, we are best friends, we are blessed to have beautiful children and grandchildren, and every day we love each other more than we did the day before. Father has made us one. Isn’t that how it should be?
So friends celebrate every day with your spouse. Each new day is truly an anniversary, so treat it that way. Tell each other, “I love you”, share a laugh, touch a hand, and give thanks to Father for the oneness you share ❤ .
