For The Love Of Music

I’m in a text group with about a dozen friends. We support each other in many ways, lifting prayer when needed, sharing funny stories, giving kudos when our kids do great things, you get the idea. It’s like having your best friends in school, only now we’re all over the country, but yet still connected almost daily.

Yesterday someone in the group shared a link to a song on YouTube. It was a wonderful song about having faith and confidence in Father. It was an uplifting song that reminds you of those who have gone before and had to rely solely on their faith to make it through, like Moses, Daniel, David, and others. The song is titled Confidence by the group Santus Real. I’d never heard it but the timing of sharing it was so spot on. Everyone in our group agreed it was what we needed to start our day.

Another song was shared by a friend in the group, she had also posted it on FB. We all know that social media is filled with political posts that quite frankly are getting old, regardless of the candidate. So our friend posted the song as a reminder of simple Sundays and long country drives. As she said, it’s a reprieve from the negativity in the world right now. The song is titled Sunday Drive by Brett Eldredge. It’s a heartwarming song about those Sunday drives when we were kids. Back then we thought they were a waste of time, if you’re like me you think differently now.

I joined in not long after and shared one more song for the day. It’s titled Mamaw’s House by Thomas Rhett. He sings of a time when he was young and his grandmother, his Mamaw was the center of everything. The Bible on the nightstand, fried chicken dinner, sweat tea, and swing on the front porch with a screen door, were strong memories. Again, a song about simpler times when Father, family, and neighbors were the focus.

That text string yesterday was a wonderful way to step away from the craziness of the day, and more importantly, as my friend said, take a reprieve from the ugliness that can be in the world. I think we all need to do more of this. Instead of looking at the negativity and ugliness that social media can bring, immerse ourselves in the music that can make our hearts happy. Father loves when we sing joyful songs, especially when we sing to Him.

So friends, I linked all of the songs that I mentioned above, just click on the titles and enjoy. May your day be filled with uplifting music that makes you smile. Give thanks to Father for the talent He instilled in these wonderful musicians.

Have a wonderful day my friends 🙂 .

Continued prayers for Emily Rea. May God to guide the authorities and the volunteers as they continue to search for this sweet woman.

Psalm 57:7
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast! I will sing and make melody.
