Blind Trust

I don’t know about you but I’ve spent the last 2 – 3 weeks typing STOP on text messages I’ve been receiving. My number has gotten onto election campaign lists and like I said, I just keep typing stop to unsubscribe. It’s annoying, and when you toss in the automated spam calls I’ve been getting, well, can I just say I’m ready to change my phone number 🙂 .

Social media is filled with ads, posts, comments, and unfortunately ugliness. Gone are the days when we could have honest discussions about whoever was running for office. Gone are the days when election season was just a few months, then it was over. No, it seems like candidates spend most of their time running for office, rather than doing the job of governing. I’m not going to spend any more time on election season, however, I do want to just suggest something.

As I see the ugliness that has settled into our nation, this side or that side, I simply say, putting blind trust in any one human being, or pair of human beings is foolish. Regardless of what “side” you think you are on, these are human beings, and like all of us, they are flawed. This nation and its people need to put their blind trust in only one place, Father God and His Son Jesus Christ. Perhaps if our focus was there, perhaps if we were searching for answers from Him, the ugliness, and the division might fade away.

This life is very short my friends, and there will come a day when we will have to answer for how we lived it. Does it make sense to provide an answer that we spent it treating others poorly because we took sides about voting for our “leaders”?

I’m not suggesting that we can’t have different opinions, of course, we should. I’m suggesting that being so emotionally involved in something to the point of treating your fellow human beings horribly, well, it’s not right. Father expects the opposite.

Think about Jesus’ life. Jesus did not agree with tax collectors, prostitutes, and murderers. Jesus spent his life showing them the true way to Father. He sat amongst them, walked with them, ate with them, and talked with them.

We do not have to agree about everything, what we have to do is get back to treating each other with respect and love. Put our blind trust in Father because, at the end of the day, He is in control, not us flawed humans.

Have a good day my friends.

Prayers up for Emily Rea. A special rescue team is headed to MT tomorrow to continue the search. Jesus, in your name I ask that you bring sweet Emily home to her family, Amen.

Isaiah 26:3-4
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
