Time To Play

Today is our 12th Annual Fishing Tournament at church. I’ve been there for the past four and I have to tell you they have been so much fun. This year, like last, I’m on the planning end of things. I sooo love to plan events, and this one is the best of both worlds. If you’ve been following this little blog for a long you know that I love to fish. So, to have the planning of the fishing tournament as one of my job responsibilities, well, that is certainly a win/win.

So, I’m starting the day really early, even earlier than I usually do during the week. I’ll help with the final setup, coffee, donuts, breakfast bars, and fruit, and then leave the lunch prep in the capable hands of our wonderful volunteers. I’ll be on one of the deep sea fishing boats hoping to land something this go around, (the last few years have been disappointing).

Yes, today friends I look forward to spending the morning with parishioners, some I know, some I don’t. It will be a good time to get to know some new faces. I look forward to enjoying the salt air and the ocean, truly my happy place. I look forward to watching young families show their kids how to fish, and the excitement in the eyes of those children as they reel in their first fish. I look forward to giving thanks to Father for the blessings of the day, a day filled with so many things to be thankful for.

Friends, I just encourage you to get out today. Do things that make you happy, enjoy the outdoors, take a walk with your favorite furbaby or grandbaby, swim in your pool, fish in the lake, take a drive after dinner, or enjoy some homemade ice cream. Enjoy this life we live. Give thanks to Father for the gifts we all share and stand firm against the evil that may come our way. Enjoy this life, my friends, enjoy!

Please take a moment this morning my friends to lift a special prayer for Emily Rea. New searches start today for this sweet woman. May Father show her to the rescue teams that she may be returned to her family. Father, please bring Emily home. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.
