Toss In A Call

My husband and I have settled into a routine most nights. Once home from work and changed, we dig into getting dinner ready. He asks what he can do to help and many times I just offer an “I’m good”, so he’ll take a seat at the counter across from me. We chat about the day, what’s on the family calendar, what home to-do’s are on the horizon, that kind of thing. Ya I know, we’re like most couples out there.

A few days ago my husband mentioned, “I like this routine we’ve gotten into, I’m thinking maybe we should toss in a call each night as well”. We talked about it and realized it was the perfect time to catch up with family and friends. If we can get into a routine of these types of calls all the better. I have many friends who chat daily with their kids while driving to or from work or have a standing call with parents on Sunday afternoons. I’ve always loved this idea, and now, well, now we’re jumping in too.

We chatted with our nephew last night while making dinner and it was a wonderful call. We caught up and learned how things were going at our great niece’s school, she’s in kindergarten 🙂 . We discussed the next visits and how we could make that happen, and we ended the call with “We love yous”. Ya, I think this tossing in a call during our nightly routine is going to work just fine.

In a world where communication has become so digital, text, email, snapchat, or whatever other app you can think of, sometimes a phone call seems so foreign. Well, I think it’s time to bring back the art of the phone call 🙂 . Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a little, but you get the idea. I just think it’s important to talk to people, not just text or email. Maybe I’m old-fashioned, oh wait, I think I admitted that in a little blog last week.

Well, you all get the idea. I just encourage you to talk with family and friends when you have a chance. Stay connected to them, and let them know you love ’em. Life is short and the gift of an “I love you” is priceless.

Have a great day friends 🙂

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
