Being Prepared

This time of the year in SW Florida, well, we’re usually watching the weather. Hurricane season runs June through November, and things start to get active in September. We’ve begun watching a particular “blob” that as of this morning has about a 50% chance of turning into a formed storm. I’m not saying it will become a hurricane or even a tropical storm, I’m just saying it is something to watch closely. It’s about being prepared.

Being prepared for a hurricane, or any type of storm for that matter means making sure you have batteries, bottled water, non-perishable foods, a generator, etc. It’s about making sure you have a plan to take shelter or evacuate. It’s about making sure you have a way to communicate with family, a way to get updates from authorities. You get the idea. Being prepared means taking things seriously and planning ahead.

As I thought about this little blog post this morning during my usual conversation with Father, yes the words being prepared came to mind. As I said, I’ve been watching this “blob” forming in the ocean, and this morning, well being prepared meant something else as well. Am I prepared for the day Jesus returns? Hmmm…now that is a good question, and I don’t know that I can say with 1000% certainty that I am.

Don’t get me wrong, do I want to see Jesus, of course, that I am 1000% sure. However, am I prepared for the questions He will ask me, well, that is where the uncertainty comes in. So, the exercise of preparation I mentioned earlier, ya, I need to do some more planning in this regard. The good thing is, that it’s never too late to prepare, it’s never too late to make a detailed plan. It just takes a thorough review of your provisions 🙂 .

So my friends, as we go into the most active time of weather down here in our neck of the woods, I just encourage anyone who lives in weather zones to have a plan and be prepared. For all of us, well I think we need to look at our longer-term plans for life everlasting. Jesus is there to help us make the right decisions and to be prepared for His arrival, we just need to ask Him to guide us.

Have a great day my friends. Please continue to lift prayers for Emily Rea’s return. As the days go by, people tend to forget. Thank you to everyone who continues to ask for updates and continues to pray. Father hears our prayers, this I know.

1 Peter 1:13
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
