This morning as I sat down to write this little blog I noticed a cross that sits on my desk. It’s made of wood and very simple yet there is a strength to it, there is a picture below to see what I mean.
Looking at the cross got me to ponder a few things. The cross itself is a simple thing, I mean it’s two objects that lay perpendicular to each other, one slightly off-center. That’s it, just two things lying across each other. Yet, we all know that it is so much more than that. The cross is the symbol of the most incredible sacrifice ever made. The cross is the symbol of Jesus’ strength.
I squirreled even further this morning in thinking about the simplicity of the cross and began to think about just how simple Jesus was as well. He didn’t wear fancy clothes, live in a palace, ride in a chariot wherever He went. No, Jesus lived among the people, He shared meals with tax collectors, prostitutes, the sick, and the outcasts. Jesus was a simple man, yet His strength, like the strength of the little cross on my desk, His strength was mighty. He was a warrior and carried the weight of our sin to that simple cross.
If you’re like me you have several crosses in your jewelry collection. I wear one virtually every day, and I have to admit I gain strength from wearing it. It’s a reminder that our Lord died for me on that simple cross. It’s a reminder of his overcoming that death and that one day I will too. It’s also a reminder for me to be simple in my daily life like Jesus was, to love others as He did. And…it’s a reminder for me to have the strength that He did as well, to fight against the evil that satan will throw at me, to stand strong and do what is right.
So my friends, as you start your day, be simple, (but strong). Let the cross remind you of why we’re here. Have a great day everyone 🙂 .
Just another reminder as well to continue to lift your prayers for Emily Rea. The family has issued a reward now for the first valid lead that results in her return. If you have any information you can submit it to: tips@flathead.mt.gov. Thank you friends for your continued prayers.
Ephesians 6:10
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
