I’m Trying To See

Yesterday was kind of a strange day. A series of unexpected events threw my day off. What was weird, though, is how much I accomplished even with unexpected events that took me away from what I had intended to do.

I should clarify as well, that not all of the unexpected things were bad. There were many good interruptions in my planned day. I picked up the ringing phone on my desk to hear the sweet voice of one of our parishioners on the other end. I love to hear from her, she is not only a special lady, but she has the dryest, yet funniest sense of humor. One of those if you’re not listening, you’ll miss it. Towards the end of our call, she asked, “Are you doing OK?”. It was personal and she waited patiently for my answer. I told her I was good, a little tired from our big event on Sunday, but I was good. We ended our call with her saying she was glad, and that she looked forward to chatting again. An unexpected event that brightened my day.

A little later in the afternoon, a visit from another parishioner who has become a dear friend. She stopped in to take care of a few things. My boss was in my office, we were chatting about some things when this friend walked by. We called her in to join us. The three of us chatted lightly and laughed about various things. It was a nice break in the day, again, unexpected but in a good way.

Oh, there were some other unexpected things that weren’t as pleasant as the chats with friends. I made my way through those little challenges too, and learned something new in the process, that’s always a good thing. By the end of the day, I was pleased with what was accomplished, and even had a pretty darn clean desk to prove it!

I’m trying to see Father more in my day-to-day happenings. Not long ago I probably would have been annoyed by the interruptions in my day that prevented me from getting through my to-do list. I think He is showing me the opportunities to see Him at work. Actually, He’s showing me the opportunities where I can show him at work 🙂 . He is everywhere, and in all things, and even the unexpected to us, isn’t to Him. I think He’s guiding us and helping us grow each and every day. I can almost hear Him saying, “Let me show you how this situation can bring you closer to me”.

So friends, as you start your day, just make a point to try and see Father in action. He’ll be there trust me. Let Him help guide you through the unexpected’s that are sure to come up. Have a great day friends!

p.s. Thanks to my friend Darcy Johnson for the beautiful sunset picture from the Heartland a few days ago, the cover of today’s little blog.

1 Corinthians 8:6
Yet for us ther is on God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whome we exist.
