Update on Emily

Over the last few months I’ve asked almost daily that you all help me to lift prayers for the niece of a friend of mine, Emily Rea. She went missing on July 16th near Hungry Horse Reservoir, MT. Many of you have asked me if there is any news about the search or her whereabouts. I thought I would devote this little blog post to an update. This was just posted on Thursday on the FB page specifically for finding Emily.

More than the information about the search, what struck me about this update is the strength in Father that is guiding everyone. As I’ve been sharing quite a bit lately, I believe God is bringing His children together to show their strength, and to show they are never alone.

Friends, continue to pray each day for this sweet lady, for her return, and pray for Emily’s family, friends and all of the volunteers and authorities that have devoted their time to finding her. God hears our prayers, it’s up to us to believe fully in His power to grant them.

Update from Emily’s best friend on September 12th.

Hi everyone,
The search for Emily continues. Here are some updates from HQ:

-The water search continues with underwater drones and sonar equipment
-The “off water” search activity is intensifying
-The $25,000 reward for information that leads to the return of Emily **from a land location** will remain in place through the end of November
-A national press release was issued last week for outlets to pick up at will
-Phase II of the public awareness campaign has begun this week involving digital billboards and social media advertising
-New flyers announcing the reward are being posted in all the local communities surrounding Hungry Horse

As we approach the 2 month mark since Emily’s disappearance, we collectively find ourselves reflecting on the power of this community.

Words have a tendency of falling short in the case of expressing emotions that are larger than their containers, so I’ll offer just this: we are so incredibly grateful.

Thank you to everyone for their continued help in the quest to find our girl and to bring her home. The support and love that has surrounded Emily and those of us lucky enough to know and love her has been astounding.

Today I received an email from a friend of Emily’s who I’ve heard so much about over the years but haven’t had the pleasure of meeting. He shared the story of how he and Emily met in such delightful detail that I found myself laughing and crying simultaneously.

Beyond these moments of connection and small degrees of separation, it’s incredible to witness how this search has become a deeply personal mission not just for those who know Emily but for so many people all across the country.

Every lead, tip, or piece of information could be helpful. If you know something, please say something by calling 406-758-5610 or emailing Tips@FlatHead.MT.Gov.
