Yesterday afternoon I had a wonderful conversation with a new woman in our church. I was wrapping things up at the end of the day, having just finished a monthly Zoom meeting that kept me at the office later than usual. My boss was in that meeting as well, and shortly after he said his good nights and headed out. The front door of our office locks automatically at 4:00 p.m. and you can’t get in of course unless you have a key.

I was jotting a few notes for things to start on in the morning and began shutting down my computer when I heard voices in the front office. I could tell one of them was my boss, so I figured he had just forgotten something and was coming back for it. To my surprise, he came around the corner into my office with a new parishioner I had met a few weeks before. She’s a sweet young woman who is always dressed in beautiful clothes, (there is a story here too, just wait for it). She had come to the church hoping to attend our weekly evening program, however had gotten the dates mixed up, and she was a day early. My boss asked if I could assist her with the schedule, and help answer any questions she might have.

What began as a conversation to share the information about our Thursday evening program, turned into a wonderful discussion about her background, where she was from, what she was hoping to do in life, etc. She’s a young, 30-plus (her wording not mine), -year-old, Asian woman who simply loves to smile and laugh. I was struck by how open she was, her ability to just jump into a conversation and share about herself.

This young lady came to our church several weeks ago. She has no formal upbringing in our denomination, and to be honest, I’m not sure if she was raised as a Christian. During the first few weeks, I’ve learned she has participated in the services, but is not quite sure how things work, even saying at one point, “This is my first time, I’m not sure what I’m doing”. Again, her willingness to jump in and participate in the service is…well, it’s refreshing. She has no fear of learning, of asking questions, and has no problem saying she needs help.

As I spoke to this young lady last night, oh and by the way, the story about her clothes, well she makes her own. She loves fashion design and would like to start a line of clothing that is affordable for all. Anyway, as I spoke to her I could see Father working in her, and I could see Him giving me the opportunities to share more about Him. He has brought her into my life for a reason I believe. So, I’m going to jump in and do my part in helping her learn more about this friend we call Jesus.

Friends, there are moments, no more like opportunities, when Father just asks, “Hey, can you introduce me to this person?”. Yep, I can do that Lord, no problem. So tonight I’ll spend a little time learning more about my new friend, and introducing her to a my lifetime friend. Time to jump in!

Have a great day friends 🙂 .

Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
