The Hype

Well, buckle up Florida, we have a “biggun” coming with this latest storm. It’s been interesting over the past week as not many weather people have been talking about it. There are only a few weather folks that I watch, we have learned which ones tend to “hype” just to get clicks, and which ones are truly following the data and the facts. This time though, many were telling everyone to “watch out for hype” about this particular storm, almost downplaying what our sources were saying. Very odd.

Here’s the deal, this storm is a very large one, and depending on how it comes through one particular area will determine a lot this morning. The bottom line is that it will make landfall in Florida and people need to be prepared. People need to stop worrying about the “hype” and listen carefully to local and state officials. Make sure you have a plan, make sure you have supplies, and make sure if you are told to evacuate that you do so. Wouldn’t you rather be prepared, board up, sandbag, and yes even leave if told to do so, and be safe, only to have the storm miss your property? Rather than…not prepare, stick around, and then find yourself in 12 feet of water? I know which I would choose.

This morning as I think about this storm and all the “hype” and “don’t listen to hype” around it, I think about our relationship with Father. So many people these days are talking about the end times, talking about the rapture. You know what, none of us knows when Jesus is coming, He himself told us that. So, why in the world would we live our life just hanging around until He comes? Jesus told us we would do greater things than He.

So, we have the opportunity now to live our lives as He did, following His commandments. Love the Lord God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and love our neighbor as ourselves. These are the two biggies, and you know what, if we master those two, we’ve got a pretty good shot at following the other eight rules He gave us 🙂 .

So friends, if you are in Florida, pay attention to the information, (not the hype or don’t hypers), research, and listen to authorities. This storm is a big one, so prepare accordingly, and don’t underestimate its potential.

And…in regards to Father, pay attention to what He is asking you to do. Don’t worry about the hype of the rapture, focus today on living as Jesus did, so that when He does come, we hear the words, “You are my child, with whom I am well pleased”.
