Large and Powerful

Yesterday the pictures and videos were all over social media showing the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. We spoke with family in the midwest who were feeling her effects last night, that’s how much of the country felt this storm. In addition to the towns in northern FL that were virtually destroyed, I saw a video of parts of I-40 washed away at the TN/NC border. The storm was large and it was powerful.

What I also saw yesterday afternoon were the videos of people beginning the cleanup. I saw photos of linemen from all over the country pulling into those same small towns working to get power to wherever they could. I saw people driving hours to communities they did not know to help, why because they had been through that process. I saw Father’s children, large and powerful, coming together to begin anew.

Friends, as I’ve said many times before, Father never said this life would be easy. He said that He will be with us always. I think what we are to learn is this life is also easier if we live it as one body together, connected to Christ. We’re seeing it around our nation, the work is made easier when everyone helps. It really is that simple I guess.

Last night I saw many pictures on social media of incredible sunsets, my friend even sent several to me from our little community. This morning, another friend posted a beautiful sunrise from OH. These are proof to me at least, that Father remains with us, strong as ever.

As we begin this Saturday, this weekend, please continue to lift prayers for everyone affected by Hurricane Helene. They begin anew, restoring and rebuilding and we God’s children stand large and powerful with them.

p.s. Thanks to my friend Patty Gibbs for the sunset pic from our community last night, the cover of today’s little blog.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
