I Will Provide

Yesterday I listened to a podcast I try to catch at least several times a week. The host had a guest, Leigh Brown, a realtor from Western NC. Well, right now she’s not a realtor, she has become a full-time disaster recovery coordinator. It started last week when she was simply trying to get some supplies to friends in the affected areas of the storm. Her calls for supplies and posts about helping went viral, and now she is overseeing donations, drop zones, distribution of vital supplies and so much more.

While it was hard to hear many of the details she shared about the devastation and situation on the ground, she also shared what she called the miracle moments. Those moments when there was absolutely no doubt that it was Father in action, true God moments.

Leigh shared an example of sending her team to purchase a pallet of chain saws to send into the area. She gave money to her team for the purchase. The next day she sent them back for an additional pallet. The team still had some money left from the previous purchase, and when they went to the store the second time Ace Hardware gave them a discount. Still, money left over. A few days later they went back for a third pallet and even the store clerk was surprised when a major discount was applied because of some sort of program that Ace runs for just a few customers. So with just the initial funds, they were able to purchase 3x what they planned. Hmmm, loaves and fishes moment.

She then shared that she was at her home collecting donations a few days ago. A woman pulled up to unload her car and mentioned that she meant to grab several packages of adult diapers. Leigh mentioned she had totally forgotten to put these on the list of needed supplies. Well, the very next car that pulled into her driveway to drop off, yep, trunk opened and it was filled with adult diapers 🙂 . Shortly after unloading, another car pulled in with several tanks of propane to donate. As Leigh was helping to unload them, her phone rang, it was one of her contacts asking that propane be added to the supply list, they needed it for generators. Her response, “It just rolled into my driveway”. Tell me these are not God moments, there simply is no other explanation.

Father tells us He will provide. Can’t you almost hear Him saying, “You concentrate on giving, I’ll take care of providing”.

The past few weeks have been so difficult for so many. My hope today is to share the bright light of Father in action. Even in the midst of incredible tragedy, people are praising God. They see His good works, they see Him through the love of total strangers. We have the chance every day to give of ourselves, let’s keep giving because Father will indeed provide 🙂 .

Continued prayers for all those affected by Hurricane Helene. You are not alone!

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
