Father Hear Our Prayer

It’s erie this morning.  For the first time in days, we have a pause in the rain and actually see some sunshine peek through the clouds.  It’s very quiet, truly the calm before the storm.

Milton is an angry boy headed for the Florida West Coast. As I’ve been helping with our disaster recovery group activities, sharing information, collecting information, and keeping abreast of the weather, I find my anxiety level rising. This morning it started off high before I asked myself, “What are you doing and what have you so totally forgotten?”.  Well, for the past 24 hours, I’ve been running and have left someone totally in the background, Father.

So, after a quick shower, I stopped everything and just sat with Him. How easy it is to just forget. Father, I’m so sorry to have put you in the background.  Through my conversation with Him and my apologies to Him, I felt myself relax and refocus.  I heard Him say clearly to me, “Stay my child”.

We are not in an evacuation zone, not near the water, our buildings are strong, and we have a lot of neighbors in our community in their 80s who are staying. We will make a list of everyone staying and we will check on each other throughout and after this storm. It’s what we do. Together with our Father, we will weather the storm and we will begin again tomorrow.

Father, I come to you this morning to ask that you raise your hands and calm the seas, disperse the winds, and protect your children. Your Son Jesus spoke the words, “Peace! Be Still!” and calmed the seas. Please speak those words again.

Father be with all those in the path of this storm, put a hedge of protection around our state of Florida. May we be guided by your love, and when the storm has passed may we help each other. Father, hear our prayer, and help us to seek you first Father in everything that we do. In Jesus Name we pray dear Father.

Friends, lift prayers for our state and keep lifting them. The storm is going to make landfall on the West Coast, as the day progresses we will know exactly where. It’s going to be a long night and a bumpy one for this great state. With your prayers and with Father holding us, we will get through.

p.s. Thanks to the Collier County Sheriff’s Department, the cover of today’s little blog. Truly the calm before the storm.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
