Yesterday I spent many hours cleaning our lanai. Milton made a major mess of things and with everything else going on at the church, yesterday was the first chance I had to clean it. It was one of those chores that I thought would go pretty quickly, but once I started I found myself cleaning in areas I hadn’t planned. That wasn’t a bad thing, but it turned into like a four-hour job 🙂 .
While I was cleaning I had my earbuds in, listening to one of my favorite playlists. It’s a mix of country and Christian songs, funny I guess, but it works. One of the songs that I’ve come to enjoy the most is “Who am I” by Casting Crowns, (the live version from the Ryman in Nashville). It just has a wonderful message of Jesus’ love for us.
At the end of this version of the song, the lead singer talks about our relationship with Jesus. One of the things he mentions is that you can’t “test drive” or just try out Jesus. You have to trust Him. Trust Him with your past and walk away from it. Trust Him with your future and follow Him into it. It’s a simple message but one that is so true.
Friends, I’ve shared many times before how Jesus just wants a personal relationship with us. Think of your best friend, what makes them so? Is it the trust you have in them that you feel you can share anything? Is it that your best friend is always there when you call? Is it that your best friend knows everything about you? Well, Jesus checks all those boxes and more, so why not treat Him the same?
If you have some time today, give a listen to “Who Am I”, the Ryman version. Spend some time with Jesus today, trust Him with your past, and walk away from it. Trust Him with your future and follow Him into it.
Have a great day my friends 🙂 .
