We’re gearing up for our annual Christmas Market at church. It’s held the third weekend in November and we host local businesses from the community in addition to a few of our own church ministries, (like our canned jams and jellies).
We’re getting a little creative right now on where to store things for the market as we’re still in repair mode from Milton. Each day I’m moving boxes here, or shifting bags there, it’s kind of like playing a game of Tetris right now 🙂 . And…to be honest, I find myself pretty tired by the end of the day. There are just a ton of balls in the air right now and by the time the day is done, I’m just hoping I haven’t dropped too many of ’em.
Yesterday afternoon my phone rang and it was one of our parishioners. A group of them were meeting at one of the storage units we have rented to hold the many special items from our Golden Mouse, (part of our thrift store). The parishioner was meeting the group and wasn’t sure if she was in the right spot. She mentioned the address where she was and I explained that she was indeed in the right place. She asked what door she should enter through to drop off her items, and just as she did, one of the chairs of the Golden Mouse came out. At that point, she said thank you for my help, (I really hadn’t done much I thought). But…before she hung up she said, “Oh Kim, wait, I just want to let you know that I’m praying for you each day as you deal with all of this”. I smiled and told her thank you, that meant so much to me.
After I hung up the phone I sat for a moment and realized how much it did mean to me to have someone tell me they were praying for me. They were such simple words but they changed my thinking and brightened my day almost instantly.
Friends, take a moment today to say a prayer for others, actually just take a moment to say a prayer for one person. Imagine the stereo in Heaven that will be blaring as we all lift those prayers 🙂 . Then if the opportunity presents itself, let the person know that you’re praying for them. I think you’ll find you’ve brightened their day. Simple words my friends, but powerful ones.
Have a wonderful day 🙂 .
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
